Subject: Paris in November.

Question: I will be in Paris in November. My visit will be over Sunday. Can anyone suggest what to do in Paris on a sunday in the fall?

Answer: If the weather permits, you might think about going to Pére Lachaise cemetery (metro lines 2, direction Nation or 3, direction Gelliéni get off at Pére Lachaise) cemetery, it is really interesting to walk around in, and free! Lots of famous people are buried there, Frédéric Chopin, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison, to name just a few. But if you go don’t just go there for that, in the back of Pére Lachaise are very beautiful memorials, some for the Jews killed during WWII others for the French resistance. I found it very moving.

If that does not please you, you might think about going to the Musée d'Orsay. I find it the be easer to get around than the Louvre, that I find poorly layout. The Musée d'Orsay was once a train station and it still has that feeling, the main hall ceiling is just about all skylights. Their web site is www.musee-orsay.fr. It is also somewhat smaller so you could see most of it during one day, hours on Sunday are 9am to 6pm. Metro line 12, Solférino station.

If you do go to the Louvre make sure you walk around the Tuileries, a large French garden right next to the Louvre. I hope this gives you some ideas.
