Subject: Followup to Rail travel in France.

Question: I will be accompanying my parents. They are 76 and 78 in excellent health, but still on the older side! Is it difficult to get to the train station in Nice to catch the train to Arles and is it difficult to catch a taxi in Honfleur to go to Deauville to then take the train to France? Last year they were unable to find a porter or even a cart to help them with their luggage! Of course I will be there to help, but I am only one person!
Any other suggestions?

Answer: I have never been to Nice and I don’t have a map of its downtown, so I don’t know if the train station is hard to find. To find the train station look for signs that read Gare. I would guess that the train is somewhere in the center of Nice, as that where most all French train stations can be found. As for finding a cart, my experience has been that carts are not hard to find, they tend to be right in front of the train station or on by the platforms. Just remember that you need a one euro coin per cart, to detach and use the cart. You get your coin back when you reattach your cart.
