Here is the April 2009 traffic estimation for France. There are school holidays during April (see French School Holidays 2008-2009 for more information) plus Easter and the Easter Monday bank holiday so there are a few heavy traffic days. The long weekend 10th to 13th could be a problem.
Then after that you need to watch out for the following two Saturdays 18th and 25th and the last day of the month the 30th. As the next day is May 1st and a national holiday, when few stores or shops will be open.
