Best Plus: Cherbourg is right on the English Channel, so, if you like the sea, and typical climate of New England, Cherbourg has it. Also, the ferry boats to England run daily, so, there is easy access for traveling in BGreat Britain.

Biggest Drawback: Probably would say the winter weather - it is cold, windy, and wet most of the time during the winter. The Spring, Summer, and Fall are moderate, though.

Comments: There are a fair number of local people that speak english, not to mention the tourists from Great Britain, however, the overwhelming majority do not speak english. Even though I do not speak French, the language barrier has not stopped me, but, it may be daunting for someone who is not quite outgoing.
