Niépce MuseumFirst Known Photograph

This is the first known photograph taken by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826 or 1827 in the village of Saint-Loup-de-Varennes near Chalon-sur-Saône. The home where this photo was taken in now a museum - Maison Nicéphore Niépce.
The photo is known as Point de vue du Gras - Le Gras is the name of the home where the photo was taken. The building in the center of the photo is no longer standing. It's difficult to make out, but in the distance is the countryside.

This is a 'reenactment' of the first photo. The window has been moved to the left and so the view isn't exactly the same as in the 1820s.
