Southern Burgundy Romanesque ChurchesChazelle

The hamlet of Chazelle in the village of Cormatin has a Romanesque Church built in the 12th century. Not only is the church old but so is the church’s bell as it was made in the 15th century.

Chazelle’s church has typical traits of a Romanesque Church in the region. Most notably are its Lombard Bands on the tall thin bell tower.

The church is accessible on three sides as the north side borders a wall. The church is normally open to the public and can be visited.

The church can be found off the D981 road when exiting Cormatin towards Cluny. Look for the sign Eglise Romane.
