Chamonix Valley Photographic WalksProgram Easy walks on country paths Duration: 2–2.5 hours August 2011CHAMONIX - SUNNY GARDENS FACING THE MONT-BLANCStrolling through a neighborhood built on the side of the mountain facing the sun, we meet gardeners and their flowering creations. A well-known chef takes us on a tour of his vegetable garden. Friday: 5, 12 and 26 August 2011 Rendez-vous: 10:00 in front of the church St. Michel, Chamonix CHAMONIX – PERSPECTIVES, PASSAGE-WAYS AND FINE CUISINEFrom east to west we walk through town and its surrounding neighborhoods using passage-ways little known to the general public. Parks, courtyards and a chance to see a great chef at work. Shhhh!! It’s a secret! Through discreet glances of this close-knitted community, we will try to understand why Servoz, so profoundly rural, attracts so many people anxious to settle down here. The local creative chef invites us into the backstage of his bustling kitchen. Artists welcome us to their workshops. An exceptional location, charged with positive energy, where the sun lingers on and on into the evening….Ideal for sunset photography due to the warm light which bathes the pristine environment and highlights the ancient farms. Tuesday afternoons: 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 August 2011 Rendez-vous: 17:00 on the Bettey parking, at the top of Coupeau, Les Houches. VALLORCINE – CRAFTSMEN, GARDENS & TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTUREA most unique village which has maintained its ancient traditions and mountain identity. From the road, little can be seen. One must take the time to stroll along the village passage-ways and country paths, talk with the locals, drink spring water from a fountain… Admirable wood-working craftsmen make up some of the pleasant encounters on our walk. Monday: 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 August 2011 Rendez-vous: 10:30 in front of the Vallorcine SNCF train station MONTROC, LES FRASSERANDSWe will try to capture, through observation and photographs, the unique character of this hidden hamlet, nestled in between peaks and glacier ice where a traditional way of life in the mountains still lingers… Wonderful old alpine chalets, sumptuous gardens and a gripping view of the Mont-Blanc range will captivate you.
