Southern Burgundy Chardonnay is a small village but you can still stretch you legs and take a walk. There is a very nice Lavoir, wine store, restaurant (see below) and church. This is the village that gives Chardonnay grapes their name. The local Cave de Chardonnay - vineyard co-operative wine store, offers a good selection of local wines - Blanc, Rouge and Rosé + wine tasting - dégustation is possible. The Cave de Chardonnay is not far from the church and open every day of the year except May 1st & December 25th. In 1994 it merged with nearby Cave de Lugny. In the center of town there is a map with local hiking trails. Many of the homes in Chardonnay are typically Maconnaise. That is 'high-houses' with living quarters upstairs and a cellar below. You can also drive through the local wine country and snap photos. The road between Chardonnay and Uchizy has nice views. Chardonnay is near Tournus off the A6 Autoroute. Chardonnay Bar & Restaurant You are in the heart of Burgundy at Le Chardon Hotel and Restaurant in Chardonnay. Le Chardon is run by sociable Brits Nick and Rebecca Harman. Nick and Rebecca always have something special coming out of the kitchen. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily (except for Tuesday). The menu changes as the seasons do and includes local specialties mixed with international favorites. The bar has the feeling of a pub with games to play and car photos on the wall. As you're in Burgundy there is a large selection of wine and other drinks. Seating is inside or out. Just to set the ambiance the hotel's four rooms are named after local grapes: Aligoté, Chardonnay, Gamay and Pinot Noir. Each has an ensuite bathroom with turbo shower. The Chardonnay room can accommodate a family, the other three are double rooms. If you are thinking of staying longer than a few days Nick and Rebecca also have a Gîte in the village.
