Daily LifeWhat floor am I on in France?

France uses the same system of floor naming as Britain does. The first floor as we know it in America is the ground floor or Rez-de-Chaussée; the second floor is the first floor, or premier étage; the third floor is the second floor, or deuxième étage, and so on.

This can, at times, be confusing, especially if you are talking to another American who is telling you what floor he lives on when he has invited you over to his place!
