Photo TidbitsOld Tanner's Quarter Strasbourg

By Jim and Emmy Humberd

Old Tanner's Quarter Strasbourg France

The 'ancien quartier des Tanneurs,' or the Old Tanner's Quarter, is located on the west end of the downtown island. Its beauty consists of half-timbered buildings, dams and locks for the canals, stone streets, bridges, huge old shade trees, flowers everywhere, along with the customary antique and tourist markets, some street-side, others inside stores - all just as lovely as can be imagined.

One year they were filming a movie, right here. A director's chair had the name 'Jerry Lewis.' We didn't see him, but since the French are so enamored with that man, we didn't know if the chair was for real, or was just to attract attention.
