Photo TidbitsMont St. Michel

By Jim and Emmy Humberd

Auxerre France

Helen Dean Fish in Invitation to Travel (published in the 1930s) says, "a spired rock emerging from the gray-blue sea the matchless citadel of beauty, Mont-St.-Michel. You will not have another experience just like that approach, nor any thrill greater than your first walk on the ramparts (as) the Mont rises in majesty above you."

As may well be imagined, the view as this magnificent structure is illuminated by the rising or setting sun, is a transcendent travel highlight. By the way, those pipe structures on the street in the foreground, are padlocked private parking space protectors.
