Q & A
Subject: Touring Europe.
Question: Question: We are flying from Canada, and visiting with relatives in England, we would like to rent a car and tour Europe. would we be better to rent a car in France, rather than England, and what is the average price of car rentals, also could you give us an average price for B&B for 2 people. We were told it would be better to rent a car in France with the steering wheel being on the correct side, and we do not know if any British rental allows their cars to be taken to Europe. Thank you for any information you can give us on this matter, also could you maybe give us an itinerary for down the coast of France to Spain.
Answer: I don’t know an average price for a rental car in France, the last time we rented a car in France was five years ago and we can’t remember the price. What I can tell you is to try and rent a car that runs on diesel. Also when you buy gas/diesel in France don’t buy on the Autoroute(Toll roads) as it is very expensive, try to buy at supermarkets, Auchon, Round Pont or Atac. The average price for a Chambre d'hôte(B&B) is around $50 a night, or maybe even less. Have a look at http://www.gites-de-france.fr/eng/index.htm, it lists Chambre d'hôtes. I don’t know if it would be better to rent a car in France or England, you could think about taking the Chunnel from London to Paris and then renting a car in or around Paris and start your driving from Paris. Au itinerary you might take to Spain is Paris, Nantes, La Rochelle, Royan, Bordeaux, Bayonne, Spain.
