Jeff Steiner's Blog about France The largest Stadium in the world. - Wednesday, July 21, 2004 - Dateline Dijon That's what some French newspapers are calling today's 16th stage Bourg d'Oisans to L'Alpe d'Huez 15-km/9.3 miles individual time trial in the Tour de France. Over a million people are expected to line the route. As I write this, things have just gotten underway; on TV they were saying that for most riders this stage is going to be something to remember. The reason being it's just about all up hill, so the riders can't go very fast this in combination with the number of people will give all riders the experience that most times only the top finishers get. That is cheering crowds. I'm planning on going to this Friday's stage 18 Annemasse to Lons-le-Saunier. As it's not far from Dijon where I live.
