ParisParis Plage (Paris Beach)

Paris Plage (Paris Beach) 2005

For a little more than one month out of the year Paris turns a few miles of its Quai's, the roads along the Right Bank Seine into a 'plage' or beach in English. If you are ever in Paris during the middle of July to the middle of August then you don't want to miss Paris Plage. It is a beach in a city, complete with sand, lounge chairs, outdoor cafes … only thing lacking is seawater, the 2004 edition did include a swimming pool reserved mostly for children. Be advised the Seine is not fit for swimming!

Paris Plage is more than just a manmade beach; Paris being Paris there are numerous events and activates that should please just about everyone. They range from free concerts to mounting climbing to beach volleyball to just hanging out. You can even find the exotic, as tai-chi classes are held regularly. And if you're just looking for some time to lay in the sun there are more than enough lounge chairs to go around, that is if you get there early enough!

Paris Plage is located right in the heart of Paris not far from the Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame and the Ill de la Cite. Metro stops within walking distance of Paris Plage are well marked.
