Discover the other side of Chamonix this Summer!

The golden age of mountaineering was also the beginning the new age of tourism and photography. Following in the tracks of the first tourists, the Walks continue to seek innovative ways for world-travelers and photography buffs to capture scenes and scenery of the Chamonix valley. Choose from the classic OPEN Photo Walk that has pleased so many visitors and amateur photographers or for a ONE TO ONE private Photo Walk geared to the person keen to progress while in action.

Two different ways to enjoy the Photo Walks:

PHOTO WALKS "OPEN": starting at 25€ per person with a minimum of 5 participants.
Prices will vary if the number of participants is under 5 persons. Please check with me prior.

PHOTO WALKS "ONE TO ONE": 150€, flat rate per walk. Guaranteed departure with a minimum of 1person.
Custom-designed walks to suit your choice of itinerary & time of day.

Duration: Plan on a half-day. Pleasant walking on country roads and paths. Shoes with good soles. Walking poles, if you like, according to your custom. In the event of very poor weather : A replacement date will be proposed during the week

PHOTO WALKS - OPEN

TRÉLECHAMPS - A PRESERVED ENVIRONNEMENT IN A STORY-BOOK SETTING - 25€
A protected alpine plateau standing in time with traditional chalets, a rustic and cosy refuge, luscious gardens surrounded by ice-covered peaks. Runners, hikers, bikers and pack-horses cross our path while offering wonderful photographic opportunities. Perfect destination for nature lovers as well as families.
Rendez-vous: 10:20 in front of the SNCF train station of Montroc Le Planet
Tuesday: June 2 & 9, July 14 & 21 and August 11 & 18

LES HOUCHES - EARLY EVENING LIGHT MAGIC IN A GOLDEN AGE SETTING - 25€
Coupeau: A setting worthy of the golden age. Nestled in the bogs around an 18th century alpine hamlet lies a remarkable natural environment where we will photograph discreet plant-life while admiring some of the oldest alpine chalets of the valley.
A must for macro-photographers and an inspiration for young budding naturalists.
Rendez-vous: 16:30 in front of the SNCF station of Les Houches, car pool from there.

CHAMONIX - PRIVATE GARDENS AND CROOKED PATHS ON THE SUNNY SIDE OF TOWN - 25€ The sunniest side of town where gardening is taken very seriously. We'll meet with gardeners, admire their flowering creations then meander through an untouched neighborhood where no cars can climb. We'll enjoy capturing the blue lupins and peonies in June, roses, phlox and dahlias later on. Bountiful and colourful vegetable patches way into late summer.

VALLORCINE - PARTICIPATE IN THE 2016 PHOTO EXPO WITH THE PHOTO WALKS - 40€
YOUR snaps and photos will be honoured for this work in progress project during 2015-2016. Following the theme of the FOUR SEASONS of Vallorcine, different itineraries throughout the year will be offered enabling you to meet, discover and photograph the people, black cows, architecture, village paths and gardens... even the Swiss neighbours. All that make up the uniqueness of this special place. A maximum of 5 persons on this walk.
Rendez-vous: 13 :30 in front of the Vallorcine SNCF train station.
Monday: June 8 & 22, July 6 & 20 and August 3 & 24

SERVOZ - SUMMERTIME IN A RURAL VILLAGE JUST IN TIME TO MILK THE COWS - 25€
An authentic country-style village with lovely old farms, fountains, orchards and cows, yet so close to Chamonix. In the,late afternoon, we make our way up the steep foot-path to where Xavier Croz milks his herd of red cows. For all people who like to photograph cows and farms. Bring an empty bottle if you like your milk extra-fresh.

LES BOIS - TO PAINT AND PHOTOGRAPH A MOUNTAIN VILLAGE with LIONEL WIBAULT - 50€
In the pure style of the artists and photographers of the golden age, Lionel Wibault - painter, alpine mountain-guide and formidable story-teller - will join us with his easel and oil paints in front of Auberge La Prairie to discuss the art of perpective while he paints. Paying tribute to this beautiful village through photography will be our quest.
Rendez-vous: 15:00 in front of the Hôtel EDEN aux Praz, car pool from there.

TO CELEBRATE THE GOLDEN AGE OF MOUNTAINEERING : A WALK BACK IN TIME TO A SHEPHERDS' HAMLET OF THE 18th & 19th CENTURY - 25€
Follow me back in time - with either your reflex camera or smart-phone - to capture the genuine atmosphere of a shepherds' hamlet as it was during the great alpine climbing revolution. In the spirit of the era, we'll take the old cow path to the alpine village of Charousse where the beauty of the area will surely inspire us.
Rendez-vous: 13:30 télécabine du Prarion, Les Houches. Car-pool from there.
Friday: July 10, 17, 24 & 31 and August 7, 14 & 21

ONE TO ONE PHOTO WALK CLASSES

The advantages of a private PHOTO WALK & coaching: This type of WALK is designed to provide personal attention regarding your level and interest, be it technical photography or just concentration on a theme, allowing you to obtain a more mature photographic result. But more than anything, it will allow you to delve a bit deeper into what makes up life in these mountains. With or without a camera. The ONE TO ONE formula is also a nice way for a private group of friends to share a fine moment and discover Chamonix in a different manner.
One price: 150 € for 1 person up to 8 persons (small groups). All year round upon reservation.

Transportation to departure points by train (free with carte d'hôtes) or by car-pool
Meals, beverages, entrances or lifts during a ONE TO ONE walk are not included in the fee.

CHAMONIX - SUNSET, NIGHT-LIGHTS AND RETURN TO TOWN BY LANTERN
A new summer solstice walk in the high-perched neighbourhood of Chamonix where we will admire the gardens as we make our way to the best spot to photograph the sunset on the Mont Blanc. Back to town by lantern before night-fall to capture the magical atmosphere as the town lights up.

VALLORCINE - PARTICIPATE IN THE 2016 PHOTO EXPO WITH THE PHOTO WALKS
The unique atmosphere of Vallorcine - its inhabitants, its black cows, its architecture - will be the subject-matter for this work in progress throughout the year. Each participant will be invited to expose the image of his choice taken during one of the PHOTO WALKS in Vallorcine. A great walk photographers who like a project and a goal.
Don't miss the beautiful fields of flowers in early summer !

LES HOUCHES - ISOLATED HAMLETS NESTLED IN A NATURAL SETTING & WHAT A VIEW!!
Perhaps the most impressive perspective of the Mont Blanc range is found in this natural setting. We will climb, by car, to the top of Coupeau where traditional alpine huts benefit from extraordinary sun and a rare sense of space. The favorite walk of macro-photographers, children and nature-lovers.

LES BOIS - PHOTO & SKETCH WITH LIONEL WIBAULT, RENOWNED PAINTER & GUIDE
Lionel Wibault, the well-known painter of dramatic mountain scenes will set up his easel on this walk which takes us through the charming rustic village of Les Bois. Besides talking about perspective and composition - which photographers love - Lionel is a remarquable story-teller. This walk will appeal to all artists using original mediums of expression. The walk's availability will depend on Lionel's availability.

CHAMONIX - PERSPECTIVES, PASSAGE-WAYS AND GRANDE CUISINE - THE CLASSIC ! The famous chef MICKEY BOURDILLAT welcomes the Walks into his Michelin-starred kitchen for a photo session during the preparation for lunch. We then make an off-the-beaten path discovery of Chamonix for contrasting perspectives before returning for lunch at The BISTRO. The meal is not included in the price of the walk but the menu of the day starts at 20 €. A gastronomic experience that goes beyond just the food.

SWITZERLAND - CLOSE BY YET SO DIFFERENT; FINHAUT & THE CHARM OF GIETROZ
Only ten minutes from the border where the 19th century resort of Finhaut unveils her elegance. But it is down the path where we discover the pearl of Gietroz, an ancient hamlet isolated between forest and prairies where the unique Walser architecture can be admired. An unexpected treasure for photographers and non-photographers alike.

TO CELEBRATE THE GOLDEN AGE OF MOUNTAINEERING : A WALK BACK IN TIME TO A SHEPHERDS' PASTURE OF THE 18th & 19th CENTURY

As in the old days, we will follow a cow trail to the alpine pasture of Charousse, steeped in architectural authenticity and jealously protected to preserve its remarquable beauty. Painters,, scrap-bookers, and artists will find their inspiration here.

LES GAILLANDS AND THE FARMERS MARKET OF LES BOSSONS - ONLY ON WEDNESDAY
A truly unique atmosphere: the Gaillands crag with climbers from every nation, the lake with the Mont Blanc backdrop , fishermen, bikers, strollers, tight-rope walkers... A great place to practice ‘ action photography'. We then go to the quaint farmers market in Les Bossons for a taste of the region's best products.

CHAMONIX - IMPROVE YOUR IMAGES OF A COLOURFUL FRUIT & VEGETABLE FARMERS MARKET
Famous for its colourful food stands manned by even-more colourful characters, the Saturday market is a perfect place to practice photographing people and food. Meet, talk, taste and faces will open up to you. A great lesson in street photography.

SWITZERLAND - MARTIGNY AND THE QUAINT ATMOSPHERE IN THE VINEYARDS
A new Walk which takes us to the other side of the mountain and down the steep slopes of the vineyards of the Valais where we will stroll through a unique and photogenic neighborhood hidden amongst the grapes.
