Tuesday FEBRUARY 17: A DAY OF CARNAVELESQUE CRAZINESS IN THE VAL D'AOSTE
Please contact me for details and conditions regarding this exceptional excursion to the most traditional of CARNAVAL celebrations in the Val d'Aoste. Only in good weather.
CHAMONIX - PERSPECTIVES, SECRET PASSAGES AND ENCOUNTERS WITH A GREAT CHEF
The Michelin-starred Chef Mickey Bourdillat has been welcoming PHOTO WALK photographers into his kitchen for the past four years. A unique opportunity to see and capture the makings of a gastronomic lunch. After the photo shoot, we will take the by-ways through town into a traditional neighborhood before returning to the BISTROT. The lunch is not included but the menu of the day is 20 euros. I suggest reserving early as this super bargain is no longer a secret.
SERVOZ - A VILLAGE OF FARMERS AND ARTISTS DRIVEN BY BOTH TRADITION & PASSION
Unique encounters and traditional architecture will feed our curiosity in this charming village where artists, farmers and creative chefs stand on firm and chosen ground. The visual artist ANAKA, the cow-breeder Xavier CROZ, the Chef Marc SERRES are amongst the individuals we can meet and photograph on the different itineraries in Servoz.
Suggestion: A practical as well as delightful way to end a WALK is with a meal at the Auberge des Gorges de la Diosaz ( except on Mondays). Menus start at 21€.
VALLORCINE - DISCOVERING A WALSER VILLAGE AND ITS UNIQUE ATMOSPHERE
Unique, secretive, a bit tucked away... The exquisite afternoon light will enhance the atmosphere along the snowy path leading from hamlet to hamlet. A chance to photograph traditional Walser architecture setting the scene for an authentic and rustic way of life.
Suggestion: To warm up after the WALK, nothing like a hot-chocolat laced with Chartreuse in the traditional café chez Guy Ancey. If you plan to have lunch before-hand, try the CAFÈ COMPTOIR.
LES HOUCHES - WINTER SUN-BATHING, ISOLATED HAMLETS, SNOW-COVERED PASTURES
Perhaps the most impressive perspective of the Mont Blanc range is found at this spot. By car pool we will climb to the top of Coupeau where traditional alpine huts benefit from an extraordinary winter sun.
This WALK is only possible in very good road and weather conditions.
OTHER WALK IDEAS: SMALL-CHILDREN FAMILY WALKS IN VALLORCINE, THE VILLAGE OF
