Southern Burgundy Romanesque Churches Built during the 12th century Saint-Martin of Ougy has remained unchanged from the day it was completed. This makes it somewhat unique for a Romanesque church of the region, as most have had some remodeling done on them over the centuries. Similar to Notre-Dame of Ameugny in size and style Saint-Martin of Ougy is a small and attractive church. Four buttresses, two on each side, support its bell tower. The roof of the bell tower is very steep with a cross at the peak. Saint-Martin of Ougy has no porch and only one nave supported by three buttresses on the outside. The nave has four windows two on each side. Inside the church there is a 12th century fresco of Saint Philip. You can see it at 1:06 in the video below. Saint-Martin of Ougy is located off the D 981 road not far from Cluny and about 45 minutes from the Tournus and the A6 Autoroute.
