Hello eveyone, Maybe I'm getting myself confused on this issue and someone can help me.I will have dual- citizenship with Italy very shortly.Yet, in a few years we will be moving permantly to France due to certain circumstances..My question is, since I am a citizen of both the states and the Eu,when I get to France would I still have to take a drivers test? As someone with dual- citizen ship I'm hoping that this is not the case and I can use my Eu citizenship to trade my license in for a French one. Does anyone know about these type of circumstances? I'd appreciate any info on the matter. Thanks in advance, Debra

Hi Norman, Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, we don't live in one of the states you've mentioned! I wonder what it takes to get these reciprical agreement between the states?? Guess we'd better keep studying Jeff's practice driving tests!! Debra

If you have an Italian license you can exchange it for a French one, or if you have an American license from one of the following states you can also excange it for a French license: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia. Otherwise, you'll have to take the French driving test if you plan to drive there for over a year. See this web-site for more information: http://www.amb-usa.fr/consul/guideoas/driving.pdf. Good luck!
