| Message | Jeff, I saw your comment on Medicare for someone who wants to retire in France. Medicare is NOT available overseas. Several American expat groups are trying to get this incorporated into the law but so far, they have not been successful. Ironically, military retirees living overseas are covered by a form of Medicare managed by a private health care company. It seems our government gives preference to one set of retirees and not others although we have paid for Medicare coverage all of our lives through our Social Security contributions. I just your readers who might be contemplating retiring in France should know this. James Kearney |
