My father was born in France... mother was french citizen..father American...this was in 1919 my question is how do I find a document showing my fathers date of birth?..my grandfather was drafted WWI..since the US didn't enter the war officially till June of 1917..and my father was born june of 1919...something dosen't seem quite right..if you get my drift... Hello Robert So you don't know your father's exact birthdate? That'll be a tough one, unless you know the exact date and place of your french grandmother's birth, marriage or death, or at least the exact birthplace -up to the street name and door number- of your father. Anyway, have a look at the bigest genealogy portal for France -maybe you know it already- francegenweb.org. If you can read french, it is packed with all sorts of informations, including all you must know about birth, marriage...certificates and how to conduct genealogic research in France. There is an english version too, but still in construction and hence incomplete. If you know your grandmother surname, a Carte des Noms de Famille can tell you what region of France her family comes from. Good luck

what you can do if you know your father's name and where he was born, you could call up that mairie and see if they can help you. All I knew about my great grandfather was where he was born and the date and they were able to find the rest for me. Hopefully you can find someone as helpful as i did.
