Hello. I am moving to Paris in March of this year although my original employment opportunity has fallen through. I am still moving to Paris although I am now looking for work.
What is the best source of job listings/employment opportunities for Americans moving to France?

Hi Kathryn,
To get right to the point, it is EXTREMELY difficult for Americans to find work in Paris. The two main reasons for this are 1) that the unemployment rate is quite high and 2) it is much easier for companies to hire E.U. residents. This is not to say it can't be done, but if you come to Paris without sponsorship from a company you must plan on working illegally. I came on a student visa, which allows me to work about 20 hours a week; without that I would not be able to work legally at all. Even bars and restaurants are very strict about hiring Americans "under the table," as they could face large penalties if caught by the authorities. My advice to you is to try to get hired before you arrive by a company that will sponsor your visa (easier said than done) or enroll at a French university which will grant you a student visa, with which you can work. Hope this helps and sorry if the news is a bit discouraging!

Almost forgot--the best resource by far for jobs for foreigners (esp. English speaking) is the FUSAC magazine, which comes out every two weeks and can also be found in an abridged form online.
