We are considering moving to France, but obtaining health care insurance is a big question we must resolve first. One of us is 65, one 55. Medicare doesn't cover Americans living in Europe. Can anyone direct us to reliable information about finding answers to our health insurance questions? Thanks.

| Message | We are Americans retired in France. We pay a quarterly premium for coverage under the national French health care plan (Securite Sociale). The premium is based on income, but the total amount is less than we would pay for equivalent coverage in the US. Private insurance is normally purchased as a supplement . By the way, French health care is excellent and affordable. |
