Subject: Help me live with my girl !
Date: Thursday, January 08, 2004
Name: david
Message: Hi,

Here is my trouble, i m a french guy, i met an US girl half a year ago, i went to visit her few times and now we would like to establish a serious relationship, that is mostly living together.

As my job situation in france is much better than her, we decided the best way would be for her to move in france. From what i read, as an US citizen, with only her passport, she can come in france for 3 month but then need to go back to US for 3 month before coming back in Europe. One solution would be to ask for a long stay VISA to france, but i m unsure if the reson "I want to live with a french guy" is enough to ask for it and i m worried about the fact the long stay VISA could be rejected. The long stay VISA also raise the purpose of the health insurance, what are the possibilities on that subject ?

Another way could be to be married before asking for VISA, but we would really want to try to live together for few months before deciding to get married which is i think understandable.

We are looking for more informations about how to do that, the faster the better, living 5000 miles apart is really a pain !

All advices welcome !

Thx, David

Message Check into PACS at the Perfecture in your area. That is for couples living together. You will have to prove that you can take care of her.

I lived with my boyfriend for a year and a half without a visa and no one ever bothered us. We finally got married a few months ago. I returned to the states to work, and he is getting my papers for me to come live there. In the meantime, immigration told him I could live there without the visa, and once all the papers were approved and the fee paid, I would have to return to the states just to get the visa.

I have never had any problems staying beyond the three month limit in Europe. But I have never been looking for a job there, and I made sure I had health insurance.

Message Thx, this is very interesting, from what i read, PACS doesn't give you any right to stay in france.

Do you have an email or could you send me one at [email protected], i d like to have more informations.

Thx, david
