Subject: Relocaton and Int'l Bilingual Schools
Date: Friday, January 17, 2003
Name: Abruce
Message: My husband and I are doing some serious homework for our eventual move to France. Our top consideration for location is schooling. We have a 5 yr. old daughter who attends a french-american bilingual school here in the states. We'd like to continue on with her bilingual education in France. Our choices on where to live are based on those cities in the south that have int'l schools -- Bordeaux, Aix-en-Prov., Cote d'azur (Nice or Mougins area). Now narrowed down to Bordeaux and Aix (Nice/Mougins housing too expensive.) Anyone have experience living in Bordeaux or Aix? Familiar with the int'l schools located there? ANY feedback would be most welcome! Thanks!

Adruce,
I lived in Bordeaux for almost two years and it is a good choice. The weather is nice, yes it is hot in the summer but the winters are mild and not very rainy. Bordeaux is very beautiful, kind of like Paris, just much smaller and more livable. Also the region around Bordeaux is very well known as you have the wine region and the beaches near Arcachon.
When you say international schools are you talking about public or private? In France there are both types of international schools and your daughter could go to public school in France, she will have the right. Jeff

Message My wife, 12-yr. old daugther and I are looking at a last minute relocation in France for the coming school year. They are both in France now, and recently interviewed at the IBS school in Aix. I was curious to know if you ever made your move, and/or found out any more information about Bordeaux. Thank you. Jim Fergus
