I am French and would like my husband to obtain the French citizenship. I asked at the French embassy and have been told that my husband MUST speak French in order to apply for this right. Do you know something about this? I have looked every low in the internet and have not find this as a requirement to obtain the French citizenship.

From what I've gathered, it is necessary when asking for naturalization. Don't know about the case where there is a marriage to a French citizen. In the former case, there is an interview where I assume the examiner judges profficiency.

Come up to my neighboroud, sometimes I ask myself if it's forbidden to speak french ! hahaha C'mon ! You didn't trust that one big whopper ??? Of course you don't need to speak french ! The one thing, when you make the procedure to marry a foreigner, they require some papers that have to be translated in french by a certified translator ! That's all ! Geez ! I can't believe what I've just heard ! Have nice day ! Feel free to require my help anytime at [email protected]
Aurélien.
