Hello,
I am married to a french citizen. My wife has gotten her legal status in the US and I would like to obtain my legal french cititzen status. What is the best way to do this?

Actually, you don't: it just takes much longer. You should ask a French consulate. Thing is, the law is changing. A text has just been passed in France that makes it longer and harder for mixed couples to share French citizenship, especially if you don't live in France. Under the previous text, the condition to be able to apply is having been married to a French citizen for three years (+ I guess to be able to prove that you have regular contacts with France, French culture, and that you speak French a little bit, etc.). Under the new law, you will need 5 years. Thing is, the text is so new that it might not be in force, yet. If you satisfy the previous conditions right now, I would hurry up and launch a procedure immediately: your case might still be handled under the previous legal settings. Good luck with it!

In order to get French citizenship, you need to be resident in France.
