Is it impossible to get my French Nationality AFTER getting divorced from my French husband??? I am American and was married to a Frenchman for 8 yrs. We lived in Paris for our entire marriage and had 2 daughters that were born in Paris and that now have duel citizenship. I have a carte de residence, but would now like to apply for French Citizenship. It was my BIGGEST mistake not to get it while I was married, but I never thought it would be an issue. I now live in the USA, but visit France regularly. What can I do??????Has anyone been through this?

Under your circumstances (U.S. citizen NOT living in France), in order to apply for French Nationality, you need to be resident in France. If you were a child who had been born in France and have a French National as a parent, the rules would be different. I am assuming your parents are not French.
If you plan to live in France, you could begin the process as a part of your move. There are different types of entry Visas for France. If you can find work here, you can obtain a work Visa and enter that way. I entered on the Shengen Visa which allowed me five years of Carte de Sejour residency (with annual renewals stating I would not work). After the five years I was able to apply for French nationality.
If you do not intend to live in France, I am not sure why you would want the Nationality.
All the rules can be obtained by your nearest French Consulate.
Good luck to you.
