I currently live in Chicago, but would like to move to Paris (temporarily or, if all goes well, permanently) to study modern dance. Unfortunately I don't know anybody in Paris except an old boyfriend from several years back with whom I've not kept in touch. If anybody could refer me to an American with similar experiences that might have some good advice, or friendship, to offer (preferably a young womman in the arts) it would be very helpful.

Hi, I saw your message and thought it might be helpful to you to tell you a bit about what goes on in France dance-wise. There are a few good dance schools in Paris, all are pretty expensive. you might want to find housing before you come or make a test trip, take some classes and check out the dance scene here before making a big commitment. There are tons of dance performances, Paris has a booming dance community. It's a great place to study dance but you must have a decent budget to be able to handle food and living expenses. Cool dance studios are the CND (national dance center), studio harmonic, micadanses, canal danse.
best of luck in your endeavors, Jocelyne
