Teleconnect Press Release Versailles--Teleconnect has launched the first high-speed ADSL internet service in France designed specifically for English-speaking expats. Already the largest telecom service in France serving thousands of British expats, Teleconnect in September is introducing a broadband service called AngloPack, offering up to 20 megabit/second data speeds—400 times faster than standard dial-up connections. Unlike dialup services, AngloPack broadband allows users to be connected 24-hours/day without blocking their phone line, so one can surf and send/receive emails even while talking on the phone. The new service will be available throughout France, covering 97% of the country. “AngloPack is more than a name,” said Jacques Neher, director of Teleconnect. “We designed this service to specifically meet the needs of the hundreds of thousands of English-speaking residents in France, many of whom will appreciate our technical hotline in English. Internet configurations can be tricky enough without having to deal with the additional challenge of language.” AngloPack comes with a high-performance wi-fi modem, allowing users to connect one or several computers to the internet anywhere in their homes without cables. The modem also contains a connection to a standard telephone, permitting low-cost, high-quality calls over the internet (VOIP). The AngloPack includes 2 hours of free phone calls every month to fixed lines in 5 English-speaking countries – UK, USA, Ireland, Canada and Australia. As an option, customers can get unlimited calls to fixed lines within France for only 10€. Customers also get a free UK2U number so their friends and family in the UK they can ring their modem line in France for the price of a local call (2p/min) The service is priced competitively at 29.90€/month, this includes modem. Teleconnect is waiving its activation fee of 30€ during the launch period, through Oct. 31. If you are interested in using Teleconnect a pdf sign-up sheet can be downloaded here.
