BurgundyDijon

Former home to the Dukes of Burgundy Dijon is the capital of Burgundy. A three hours drive from either Paris or Lyon, Dijon is home to fine food and wine along with the former Dukes Palace, Fine Arts Museum and wonderful old houses in the city center. Here is my 'Things to do in Dijon' list:

  • Take a stroll in the Parc de la Colombière, bikes also available for rental.
  • Window shop along the rue de la Liberté, Dijon's most chic street.
  • Visit Les Halles on a market morning, Wednesday or Saturday.
  • Drive 20 minutes in any direction and take in the Burgundy countryside.
  • Drive along la côte wine country, between Marsannay-la-côte and Nuits-St-Georges.

Not only is there a lot to see in Dijon, but in less than an hours drive you can visit a UNESCO World Heritage Abbaye de Fontenay, the village where Chocolat was filmed, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, the location of the 'most famous wine auction in the world,'
