Attractions![]() Place Gambetta - Wonderful little park in the heart of Bordeaux, makes for a great place to enjoy an ice cream or Shish kebab (hot meal sandwich), as with most French parks there are ample places to sit down. For a shish kabob just take a stroll down the rue du Palais Gallien, street starts in the northwest corner of Place Gambetta, there are lots kabob shops there. Tour Pey Berland - Experience a panoramic view of Bordeaux like none other, from this 15th century tower. Not for the faint of heart, as you have to clime up over 5 stories of stares to arrive at the top, but well worth it. Rue Sainte Catherine - The mostly pedestrian only street makes for a nice stroll from the Place de la Comédie to Place de la Victoire. Stop off along the way and enjoy a French café and realize this is why you came to France. Nightlife - When I lived in Bordeaux it had lively nightlife with an amazing amount of pubs and bars run by expats. The center seems to have the most going for it. Try taking a stroll along the Rue Sainte Catherine at night. You'll see what I mean. Bordeaux Then & Now: Set of eight then and now photos of Bordeaux. Things to do outside Bordeaux.
