About the Driving ExamAutomatic License

It's possible to take the driving test on a car with an automatic transmission. This might pose a few problems. First, if you do take your driving test on a car with an automatic transmission then you will only be licensed to drive an automatic. You will not be able to legally drive a car with a stick shift; a certified expert can lift this restriction. Second, not all schools have cars with an automatic transmission. In France most people learn on a stick shift. Third, driving schools that do have an automatic might only have a one or a few. You might not always be able to schedule lesson when you want. Finally, the car you take the test on will be supplied by your driving school, so like lessons you might not be able to take your driving test when you want.

The choice of what type of car to take your driving test on is of course yours, but if you are thinking about doing it on an a automatic you need to weigh the pluses and minuses and remember that taking your driving test on an automatic will limited the types of cars you can drive.
