Harvest time is one of the most interesting periods in the Charente-Maritime.

One can feel the busyness of the winefarmers and the smell of fermenting winecellars is in the air.

What an experience…..enjoy the grape harvest in the Charente Maritime while staying in Domaine la Fontaine!

Feel like a winefarmer, a grape-picker at Vignobles Morandière in the Côtes de Blaye. Pick your grapes and even press them yourself and after a mornings work, lunch will be served in one of the winecellars, just like the farmers dad did and his dad and his dad etc.

A tour in a coopery - a little factory - where you will steer a middle course between the machines so you can closely witness the making of the casks in which they will store wine or cognac. From plank to cask, all the way. A visit to a famous wine chateau in the Médoc or St. Émilion. Obviously you will enjoy delicious meals along the way. There is an afternoon without programme, so you can do whatever you like (sit at the pool and read a book?)

Departure Sunday 28th september after breakfast.

Programe:

• 3 nights at Domaine la Fontaine, incl. breakfast based on 2 pers. (for one person only a surcharge will apply)
• 3 x dinner (incl. wines)
• wine-pick training by Vincent Morandière, a winefarmer or better 'viticulteur' who makes wines, cognac and Pineau des Charentes
• 2x lunch, including the burgundian lunch in de winecellar, after the work in the vineyard
• wine tasting session with exstensive explanation (in English) by Vincent
• tour at Tonnellerie Allary, the coopery
• a visit to a renowned Wine Chateau

Price for the total package: €385 - p.p.

Trip to Soubran, local transportation and personal expenses

Domaine la Fontaine is a great place to be and to enjoy in peace and quiet. We can comfort a maximum of 23 people in our guestrooms and our gîtes (apartments). A cosy salon with a fireplace, a piano and TV set will be at your disposal. Depending on the weather you can plunge into the (heated) swimmingpool.
