Legal requirements in France

There are 3 ways of celebrating your love in France:

Legal civil wedding ceremony at the Town Hall
Getting married in a Town Hall requires that one of the would-be spouse has lived in France for more than 40 days prior to the wedding.

Religious ceremony
Whatever your religion is, a religious ceremony requires that the would-be spouses have had a civil wedding before, in France or in their home country. The religious preparation should be done in the home country, and contact should be established with the French celebrant.

Symbolic non-denominational celebration
A symbolic exchange of vows has no legal value, but it is high in emotion and will be a very moving souvenir. It can be celebrated anywhere, in any nice private place.
