Q & A

Subject: My American husband and I are dreaming about one day soon moving back to France.

Question: Hi - My American husband and I are dreaming about one day soon moving back to France. My question is as follows: my husband is a musician, but also a grant specialist within healthcare. How 'easy' would it be for him to find a well paying job in Paris? he will be in his early 50s when we move. As for his workpermit, I am Danish, thus an EU citizen. Does that help him in any way?

Answer:

In my opinion it would be just about impossible for your husband to find a job. Right now the French job market is in the dumps. That of course could change but still I don't think is will be very easy for him to find work. Does he speak French or worked in France before? See my moving to France article for more information, http://www.americansinfrance.net/MovingPlanner.
As for your question about him getting a work permit, try your nearest French consult or embassy, see this link for a list, http://www.ambafrance-us.org/intheus/consulates.asp. Jeff
