Q & AMoving/Living/WorkingMoving from Alaska to France Question: Hello from Alaska, my husband and I have been contemplating on moving to France, but are not quite sure we are thinking about Provence area, I have been to France three times and absolutely love the culture the food and the people. My husband has never been out of the United States. We are not the type of people to visit the touristy part of a country but we do love art galleries and museums. I think what I am trying to ask you, what is available for people like us. Answer: Moving to France is possible but it will be VERY difficult, if you have not yet please read my moving planner - http://www.americansinfrance.net/MovingPlanner/. Right now it's very tough finding work, which includes the French. I really would not advise that you move unless you are independently wealthy or if you are able to live off a few euros a day. It's up to you where you want to live, most Americans choose Paris, just because it's Paris I think. You of course could go anyplace you want. I would not suggest the south; it's just gotten to expensive from what I hear. I could have heard wrong of course. Another thing BEFORE moving, make sure your husband visits just to see how he likes it. I'm organizing a 'French 101' conference, it might be something you would be interested in. I will be going over all the ins and outs of moving to France, bringing French and expats experts to give you lowdown on moving and living in France, for more info see - France 101.
