Q & AMoving/Living/WorkingIs a driving license from Illinois exchangeable in France?

Question: I have a driving license from Illinois.
To get a French license do I have to go to school and go through all these problems or can I simply send my license to some office and get a French license.
I hope you can answer my question.
Thank you

Answer: Call your local Préfecture or sous Préfecture and ask them if your license is exchangeable of not. They are the ones that will have an up to date list of 'good states.'
If it is exchangeable they will tell you how to make the exchange. If your license is not exchangeable see this article for more info - Obtaining a License France.
