Q & AMoving/Living/WorkingImport Classic Car into France

Question: This will sound a little bit silly or naive I'm sure, but I'm being quite serious: How possible would it be for me to import my car with me when I move to France? My French fiancé and I will be moving to France after we are both finished with all of our schooling, and I have a classic car that I don't particularly want to part with. I'm wondering if you have ever heard of someone doing this before? I know I have seen genuine European imports into the US, but I wonder if it can work the other way too?

Answer: Possible yes, but not very easy, make sure you have all the paperwork you need, I would call your nearest French consulate for more information. Also make sure your car is in very good working order as in France cars must pass a rigours inspection to be allowed on the road. For more information see this thread shipping a new car to france and Importing a Private Vehicle into France from Canada or the U.S.
