Q & AMoving/Living/WorkingHow to Teach English in France

Question: Hi There. I want to move to France. Could you tell me where I can find a job teaching ESL that would include health insurance and a decent salary? I would like to work for a large company if possible. I have a B.A. and over 4 years of ESL experience. Do you know where I can begin? Thanks!!

Answer: Quite honestly finding work in France right now is very difficult. The best I can do is direct you to my finding a job in France page - Finding a Job in France.
In general teaching English does not pay that well; you could expect to earn about 15 euros and hour. Not bad for living in France, but you would be hard pressed to work more than twenty hours a week. Most language schools only hire part time help. The good news is that you would get health insurance; France has national insurance and all workers, even part time ones get health care.
