Q & A

Subject: Genealogy

Question: I will be visiting the Basque Country (Deba,S pain) during Christmas holidays. I plan a trip to Poitiers, France where my family came from in the late 1600's. I am interested in anything relating to the Ballengee family, and visiting old areas around Poitiers, which may have genealogy information. Any suggestions?

Answer: I have never been to Poitiers, so I do not know any old areas around there. You might try when you arrive, going to your nearest Office de Tourisme (Tourist Office) and telling them your predicament.
What I did find were some French sites on "généalogie", http://www.genealogie.com/, http://www.geneaguide.com and http://www.genealogie.org/. Some have parts in English
