Q & A

Subject: Find an apartment in Paris, Avignon or Marseille.

Question: I like your website, very informative so far. I especially like the "little known facts" section. I do, however, have one question: do you have any information about where i can find an apartment, etc? I am interested in living in Paris, Avignon, or Marseille.
Thanks for your time!

Answer: Finding an apartment and then having it rented to you can be very hard in France. First of all you need to find an apartment, sometimes not an easy task, think Paris. There are agencies that you can go through. They charge a flat fee for the right to their database. They then supply you with addresses of apartments. You are pretty much on your own when seeing places, most will not go with you. Once you find a place you have to prove income and sometimes you even need a cosigner, someone that will assume the rent payments if you cannot. Having money in the bank does not mean a lot. A history of income is much better. It can be a real pain coming up with the paperwork; the French just love to ask for papers.
