Q & A

Subject: Beauvais Airport and three days in Paris.

Question: We are going to be in Paris November 23 and leaving November 25. We are flying into Beauvais Airport from Shannon Ireland. My questions: 1. How far is it from the airport to the center of Paris? 2. What is the easiest way to get there 3. Do you know of a great cheap B & B to stay at? 4. Which district is the best to stay in for getting the most out of Paris in 2 days? (We did not want to spend all of our time traveling to and from places). We thought St. Germaine. What do you think? 5. Any good restaurants, clubs etc you would recommend. Thank you so much. I have books and have looked at numerous sites but sometimes its better if someone recommends directly the hotels, B & B or clubs.

Answer: The train takes a little over an hour from Beauvais to Paris, cost 10.50 euros. There is also a bus service, cost 10 euros, have a look at the Beauvais Airport web site http://www.aeroportbeauvais.com. It only talks about the bus, so maybe that means it is easier, I don't know I have never used that airport.

As for where to stay in Paris, don't worry about it; Paris is not that big a city, you are never more than 400 meters from metro stop anywhere within it. I think you'll like wherever you stay, I have never seen a Paris neighborhood that I did not like. Just aim for the first to tenth arrondissement (districts), that is the center. Look for hotels with zip codes from 75001 to 75010 I cannot recommend any hotels or B & B's all I can offer is a link to one of my sponsors, http://www.venere.com.
The one attraction that I would recommend is Pére Lachaise Cemetery. It is free and makes for a nice walk. Don't miss the back where there are very beautiful memorials, some for the Jews killed during WWII others for the French resistance. A good web site for out of the way places in Paris is, http://perso.club-internet.fr/hwelty/.
