Q & AMoving/Living/WorkingAmerican Artist Starting a Business in France

Question: I am an American artist and would like to relocate to France in 2-3 years. I would prefer to purchase a commercial building/loft and open/run an art gallery.

It has been incredibly difficult to find info that would at least point to the direction of a government agency in this area. I am married with a 2 yr old. My husband is in the medical field and also has teaching experience and I would like to look into the possibility of his employment.

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Do you think a Tennessee ridge-runner can fit in France? Someone who will probably end up speaking French with a southern accent. That should be interesting.

Answer: Have a look at http://www.apce.com, click on the Union Jack at the top for English. It will give you an idea of what it takes to start a business in France. Also have a look at http://www.moving-to-france-made-easy.com/, it is run by a woman that recently moved to France. I have no idea about the regulations concerning artists in Europe or France.
