NewsletterJune 2011 Photos from a week in the South of FranceMarket in Aix-en-Provence. This newsletter is similar to the one from September 2010, in that it’s mostly photos of my recent week in the South of France. The base was La Cadière d’Azur, a picturesque village that sits on a hill with wonderful views of the countryside. La Cadière d’Azur as the name would suggest is on the Côte d'Azur aka the French Riviera. Some of the photos below are also from Provence. View of the countryside from La Cadière d’Azur. One side of the lower carved section from the mausoleum of the Julii in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This is the Calanque de Figuerolles as seem for the sea. A Calanque is a narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs. There are many Calanques between Marseille and Cassis. This is part of the Sorgue River passing through Isle sur la Sorgue. If you ever visit Isle sur la Sorgue make sure to stop by Patisserie Leyris run by a Franco-American couple. Typical street in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This is one of the many Pizza vans that you can find in most (if not all) areas of France now. Fishing boat in Sanary-sur-Mer. It seemed like every village or market had its Savon de Provence seller. Boats in Sanary-sur-Mer. Learning to Sail in Sanary-sur-Mer. Here is one of the more isolated Calanques. Follow @jeffsteiner
