Subject: Police record in applying for a carte de sejour
Date: Tuesday, November 21, 2006
Name: Brian
Message: My bride and I have our hearts set on purchasing a little village house in France and living there six months out of the year, starting on or about 2014. I understand that a carte de sejour will be required for a stay of over 90 days.

Income shouldn't be a problem...we'll be well above the minimum required by French authorities. One wrinkle might be my police record...I have a misdemenour conviction stemming from an arrest back in 2000. It will be fourteen years old by the time we'll be making application.

So....how sticky do the French immigration people get about granting cartes de sejour to those of us with little indiscretions on our records? Anyone have any insights into these matters? Might anyone know of a French immigration specialist whom I might consult?
