Subject: Burning a DVD in the US to send to France
Date: Sunday, November 05, 2006
Name: Karen
Message: We would like to put together some photos of our family to send to relatives in France. The people in question have a DVD player but not a computer.

Does anyone have any experience good or bad with this kind of project. (If it matters, I am working on a Mac)

Thank you

Message There is another solution. If your French friend has a good computer with a DVD-capable burner, the problem can be solved simply. He/She can copy the US DVD (Zone 1) to change it to the French standard (Zone 2). And, this is legal.

The French government passed a law earlier which addresses this issue exactly. It is permissible to copy a DVD for your own use.

Sofeware for this is readily available for download on the web.

Hope ths helps,

Dave

Message Do they have an American or French DVD player? Because French DVD players cannot play American DVD's because of zoning. I'm not sure if this applies to burned DVD's though - maybe you could do a photo CD instead (my DVD player plays those).
