We will be taking a few US electric items with us, so will need transformers. Is it better to buy them in the US or France? If US, how do I get a French male plug on it?

I found this really cool transformer online and it works Great! I can even support a computer, monitor, and battery backup on it all at the same time! But the company has all different sizes. I'll get the link from my work computer tomorrow for you and post it. They have everything for decent prices. And these transformers are sure not to fry your valuable electronics. I was even running an XBOX off of it! No problems!

We will be moving permanently and want to keep some small appliances, e.g., knife sharpener, food processor, printer. The voltage needs to be converted for them by a transformer. My understanding is that if the appliance is ok for 50/60hz then it won't harm the motor to use a transformer for it permanently.
As for the male plug, it would be at the end of the cord from the transformer and would go into the wall. So it needs to be French and I don't know what kind of plug transformers have. I do have one plug converter (from US to French), but would rather have the correct one on the transformer.

I am curious as to what items you need to transform, and how long you are going to be in France. I never found it worth it to transform for very long, not efficiant, nor good for the electronic. Almost everything is available in France.
But anyway I always found it easier to buy a U.S. to France plug in the U.S. as opposed to being Europe where the sell conversion plugs for every country. There is a difference between converting the plug, and converting the voltage. Depending on your concern make sure it does what is needed. For example my laptop has a conversion built into it, before I bought a Euro power cord, all I needed was a plug converter. A hairdryer though would need both. I am confused about wanting to plug a male part in, to what?
