Message: We haven't moved to France yet, but am trying to get our ducks in a row:

1. Will my US non cordless phones work in Bretagne (22)? Or are the US phone jacks bigger than French ones?

2. Our new (old) house has broadband, what do I need for my PCs to operate on it. Is it something a non-geek can hook up? I currently have wireless.

3. Will I need a new modum for my PCs? If yes, what is it and can I get it in the US?

4. Can I have my PC on 220 and my printer on 110 through a transformer? Or is it better to have both on the transformer?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks for the info on PCs. Was afraid I would need a new modem.

Any ideas on what I'll need for broadband?

Hasn't anyone tried to use their non-cordless phones in France? Or am I the only one who still has them?

Message For the computer, you can just flick the little 115/230 switch in the back on the power supply to 230 and it will work fine. As for the printer, I would just purchase a new one once you get there. Less of a pain. They are mostly fairly cheap now days.

Modem: Yes, you will have to get a new modem once you are in France and you will have to set your computer to accept the French dial tone. It's a setting in your computer's control panel.
