Open Wine UniversityTongue Taste Map First homework of the Open Wine University was to create a taste map of my tongue. The map identifies the four main flavors - bitter, acidic, salty and sweet. Identification was done using a small sample mixed with water of coffee for bitter, vinegar for acidic, salt for salty and sugar for sweet. Applying each to my tongue and distinguishing what tastes were strongest where. Here's my tongue map: Samples used for the map. Left to right coffee, salt, vinegar and sugar.
