French HolidaysMay 8th (VE Day)

May 8th is a national holiday in France. Known as Victoire 1945, this holiday commemorates the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany - VE Day. In all cities, towns and most villages there is a solemn ceremony to those that died in WWII. It’s not uncommon for even the littlest village to have some type of ceremony on May 8th where flowers are place in front of a Monument aux Morts - war monument.

Here are photos of the May 8th commemoration that took place in La Roche sur Foron in the French Alps.
